Profile
Led by award-winning architect and bestselling author Matthew Walton, our team specialises in creating thoughtful, highly liveable spaces that respond to each site and its surroundings. From new homes and renovations to commercial projects, Walton Architecture brings together architects and interior designers to deliver tailored, design-led solutions — with a hands-on, personalised approach every step of the way.

STUDIO ETHOS
At Walton Architecture, we value simplicity, clarity and a strong connection to place. Our work is guided by the belief that architecture should feel grounded, shaped by its site and tailored to how people live. We design homes that are calm, enduring and comfortable to be in. This means working with care, stripping away the unnecessary and allowing each project to speak with quiet confidence.
We also believe in longevity. The homes we create are made to last and adapt over time. We favour honest materials, thoughtful planning and a design language that places people first. Rather than chasing trends, we focus on creating something that will still feel right for years to come.

DESIGN APPROACH
Our process begins with listening. We take time to understand the site, the brief and how each space should feel and function. We study orientation, light and movement to guide every decision, aiming for clarity and purpose in the way a home comes together.
Collaboration sits at the core of our approach. We work closely with clients, consultants and builders throughout the project. From early ideas to final detailing, every step is handled with care and intent. We believe in getting the foundations right, and in delivering work that feels considered at every level.
ACCREDITATION
Walton Architecture is a registered practice in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. To practice as an architect in Australia, both the individual and the studio must hold active registration in each state where they work. While based in Brisbane, our registrations reflect the breadth of our projects across the east coast.

Matthew Walton's debut book
The Psychology of Spaces
There are plenty of books written by Architects, for Architects. Matthew’s debut book, The Psychology of Spaces: 10 ways the design of your home can impact your wellbeing, is specifically written for non-architects who are thinking of undertaking a renovation or new build project.
Accumulating 10 years of experience, the book combines words and diagrams to explain key design principals and why they are important.
